1933 - Country music singer/songwriter Willie Nelson is born on this day.

1943 - Bobby Vee is born today.

1953 - Merrill Osmond of  The Osmonds is born.

1962 - Robert Reynolds of the Mavericks is born on this day.

1970 - Twiggs Lyndon, manager of the Allman Brothers, was arrested for murder. He stabbed a club manager for breach of contract.

1971 - Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down is born today.

1976 - Keith Moon of the Who paid 9 cab drivers to block off a street in New York so he could throw the contents of his hotel room into the street.

1977 - Led Zeppelin broke a new world attendance record at at concert in the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan with 76,229.  The former record was 75,962 at the same venue.

1983 - Blues artist Muddy Waters died in his sleep at the age of 68 at home in Westmont, Illinois.

1991 - Nirvana signed a record deal with Geffen DGC label for $290,000.

1992 - Madona’s bustier is stolen from Frederick’s of Hollywood after rioting and looting as a result of the Rodney King verdict. 

1999 - Darrell Sweet drummer for Nazareth died of a heart attack at the age of 52 before a show in New Albany, Indiana.

1979 - “Georgia on My Mind” by Ray Charles was declared the state song of Georgia.

1982 - American Idol Kelly Clarkson is born today.

1992 - Wilson Pickett was arrested after running into an 86-year old man and yelling death threats while driving his car across the mayor’s front lawn in Englewood, New Jersey. He was charged with driving with open bottles of alcohol in his car.
